Comparison website RateCity has announced a new video series program aimed to improve financial literacy.

The videos are aimed at helping parents teach their children about setting up for a good financial future.

RateCity marketing director Ali Cassim said the videos are part of a bigger plan to build greater financial literacy education platforms for parents and children.

“Thanks to the internet, families can take matters into their own hands and teach kids about money at home. Our video series is all about arming them with the tools they need to do that,” she said.

The move comes as ABS data revealed almost 1 in 5 Australian children start school without basic skills such as counting to 20 and recognising numbers.
