Former REA Group executive Tom Ainsworth will join Domain Group as executive director of residential sales.

Mr Ainsworth is currently senior vice president marketing, go to market, research, sales enablement and Sales at Move, Inc., publisher of the US’ second largest real estate portal, realtor.com.

Domain Group chief executive officer, Mr Antony Catalano, described Mr Ainsworth as “an outstanding appointment” for Domain Group.

“He has worked in digital real estate media in the US and Australia for more than eight years. He is held in the highest regard for his intelligence, his integrity and the breadth and depth of his knowledge and understanding of the real estate agent community and its key players,” he said.

“For the past two years, he has worked in one of the most dynamic and innovative real estate markets in the world.

“He has successfully worked with the leading real estate agents in Australia and the US, advising them on their marketing and business strategies.

“It is a huge vote of confidence that Tom has decided to return home to Australia to join Domain Group based on the progress it has made in the past three years, the quality of its team, the strength of its strategy and its clearly articulated growth plans.

“His appointment underscores Domain Group’s determination to build a highly-talented and entrepreneurial executive team focused on providing industry-leading value and service to our clients.”

Mr Ainsworth said the opportunity to move to a world-class challenger brand and help build a market leading position was “very motivating”.

“In the US, I have been responsible for digital media and agent services such as professional software and customer relationship management systems, which is the future. Domain is a clear leader in the Australian market and is expanding its offering,” Mr Ainsworth said.

“Like the leading businesses I observed in the US, Domain is focused on disruption as a key competitive advantage. As a result, the business is well-positioned to challenge the status quo and deliver even better experiences for customers and consumers.”

Mr Ainsworth said Domain’s close partnerships with its customers was a natural cultural fit for an “incredibly customer-centric” executive.

“I am very much looking forward to joining Domain and working alongside its outstanding executive team as we accelerate its growth,” he said.
