Ms Lea is currently the chief employee experience officer at MYOB, a role she’s served in since June 2017.
The newly appointed non-executive has also previously worked in a number of senior roles at both Australian and multinational corporations, including Telstra as its executive director – enterprise services, and British American Tobacco as the area head of HR.
“We are very pleased to welcome Helen to the board,” said Butn chairman Suzanne Ewart on Ms Lea’s appointment.
“The company will benefit from her diverse knowledge and experience, and we look forward to working with her.”
Additionally, Ms Lea is also a registered organisational psychologist and a fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute.
The announcement comes after what has been a period of growth for Butn, with the small-business finance platform announcing in April a new partnership with Lend.
Less than three months later on 6 July, the company officially went public with a $20 million IPO – MYOB increasing its stake to 19.9 per cent.
