In March this year, it was announced that Mr Kane would act as caretaker in the role after Steve Weston’s departure in April.
Yesterday, NAB’s executive general manager of growth partnerships Antony Cahill said Mr Kane would formally take up the role from today onwards.
“Steve is one of the most experienced and capable people in the industry and I am confident that he will take our platforms business to the next level in terms of strategy and future growth," Mr Cahill said.
In his previous role as chief executive of FAST, Mr Kane was responsible for the overall financial and operational performance of one of the country's leading aggregation businesses.
Mr Kane was appointed as chief executive of FAST in August 2006 and has over 30 years of working experience in the banking and financial services industry.
NAB will commence the search for Mr Kane’s replacement, and during this time David O’Toole, the national sales manager of FAST, will continue to act as chief executive of FAST.
