Mr Haliwell, who worked in the finance and broking industry for more than 17 years and recently changed career to become a solicitor advocate, joined the Humbli board on 20 February 2023.
The digital learning platform was established in 2021 and provides assistance to financial service providers “to enhance their customer journeys by embedding light-touch but impactful digital learning experiences”.
According to the company, despite readily available information on financial literacy, there remains low levels of financial awareness across the Australian adult population. As such, it aims to help companies better educate consumers.
In taking up his position as a non-executive director, Mr Halliwell said he was particularly drawn to Humbli’s mission to educate consumer knowledge and awareness in the financial services sector.
“Entering a home loan is the biggest financial commitment most people make in their lifetime,” Mr Halliwell said.
“Humbli’s innovative tools and learning design approach will assist lenders and brokers to educate their customers better, leading to more confident and better-informed financial decisions and outcomes.
“Humbli’s innovative approach to customer engagement will help create a more responsible and buoyant financial services industry. I look forward to being part of the Humbli journey.”
Welcoming Mr Halliwell to the board, Mr Farrell noted his extensive banking and finance experience, including at National Australia Bank (NAB), Challenger and Westpac.
“Brett’s understanding of the market will allow us to shape products that generate mutual benefits for lenders, aggregators, and brokers,” Mr Farrell said.
“I have no doubt Brett will play a pivotal role shaping Humbli’s development and growth.
“We’re excited to have Brett on board because of his depth of experience and respect across the finance and broking industry.”
Mr Halliwell joins fellow board members including:
- Dr Andrew McLaughlin, CEO of NatWest Commercial and Institutional Banking (based in the UK);
- Belinda Gibson, professional NED and former deputy chair at ASIC;
- Richard Wenzel, Australian tech entrepreneur and co-founder Nitro (ASX:NTO); and
