According to Bridgit, the appointment came as the business continues in an “upward trajectory” after reportedly recording year-on-year growth in application volumes of 343 per cent.
Previously, Mr Balshaw was a business development manager (BDM) at Pepper Money ANZ, where he cemented himself as a top-performing commercial manager having settled the “largest commercial transaction within a national team as well as being the fastest BDM to reach 100 settled deals,” according to Bridgit.
Prior to his role with Pepper Money, Mr Balshaw held senior positions at ALI Group (Australia), Connective, National Australia Bank (NAB), and Suncorp.
In addition, Mr Balshaw specialises in alternative funding options and has supported and educated over 1,000 commercial brokers.
Commenting on the appointment, Bridgit head of distribution Stephen Doyle said: “Michael is the perfect person for this role.
“His unrivalled expertise and knowledge of non-bank lending along with strong broker relationship skills will no doubt help cement Bridgit as the go-to solution all brokers can trust.
“The number of Bridgit accredited brokers across the VIC, SA, TAS and WA regions has grown rapidly in just two short years and as a result, it is imperative we have a dedicated person to spearhead our efforts in these key states.”
On Bridgit’s recent growth, Mr Doyle added that the business has processed over $2 billion in bridging loan applications since its founding in 2021.
Mr Balshaw stated it is on a “mission to help everyday Aussie home owners progress through their property journey” as an increasing number of home owners are struggling to find their dream homes.
“For those lucky enough to find their ideal property, many of those people lose out on the opportunity due to not having enough time to sell their existing home or being unable to access enough liquidity to complete the purchase. Bridgit wants to change that,” Mr Balshaw added.
“As regional sales director for Bridgit, my goal is to continue this mission and help Australian brokers and their clients access a trusted and dependable bridging solution.”
