With artificial intelligence rapidly permeating every industry, both small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and large companies have invested in AI or are planning to do so within the next five years.
To address the growing adoption and sophistication of artificial intelligence being used by Australian businesses, Momentum Media – the parent company of The Adviser – launched the inaugural Australian AI Awards to recognise professionals, organisations, and solutions transforming the Australian economy.
The awards program showcases innovators across a range of industries, including banking and broking, law, accounting, and wealth management, as well as defence, aerospace, cyber, and more.
Winners were revealed at a black-tie gala at the Four Seasons Sydney on Wednesday evening (6 November).

The ceremony allowed those innovating in the broking industry to celebrate the achievements of colleagues and network with leaders and peers across a diverse range of sectors within the Australian economy.
Among the winners on the night was aggregation group and fintech company Lendi Group.
Lendi Group was the recipient of the coveted AI Innovator - Mortgage Broking award, with the company recognised for transforming the home loan industry with its innovative technology and customer-centric approach.
It recently launched two AI initiatives in 2024, including an AI-powered broker assistant to summarise broker-client interactions and a bot that would answer policy-related questions within the group’s platform.
The broking group said the policy AI bot was set to save brokers “1,000s of hours annually”.
Other winners include CoreLogic, which won the trophy for AI Innovator - Real Estate, and software-as-a-service provider to the banking industry Elula (AI Innovator - Consumer Banking), as well as professionals and businesses in accountancy and legal services, information technology, cyber security, aerospace, and higher education.
As the first of its kind in Australia, the awards program provides national recognition to professionals and organisations that have developed innovative AI solutions.
The judging criteria for the award categories were both quantitative and qualitative, acknowledging growth, business development, diversity, leadership, innovation, business excellence, and contribution to developing Australia’s AI toolkit.
To decide the winners, all finalists underwent a thorough audit process, checking demographic and other information against category eligibility criteria based on the information provided in the submission.
Professionals and organisations that were named the inaugural winners of Momentum Media’s coveted Australian AI Awards will gain national recognition for catapulting Australia’s AI capabilities forward.
Speaking after the event, Liam Garman, managing editor for real estate, professional services and security at Momentum Media, said: “There’s no doubt that artificial intelligence and advanced machine learning will fundamentally transform the way we work.
“I congratulate all of our winners tonight for their innovation and drive. You represent the best and brightest in Australian industry, and I raise a toast to your indefatigable efforts in advancing article intelligence.”
