Stryd welcomes new head of product

by Will Paige11 minute read

The hire brings more than a decade of experience in banking, payments, and fintech to the newly created role.

Open banking-enabled fintech platform Stryd has recruited Cheok Lee to the newly created head of product role in an effort to boost broker and lender offerings.

Stryd, the flagship brand of Perth-based open banking fintech Moneycatcha, is a real-time product and pricing database used by mortgage brokers to find borrowers the best loan.

In the position, Lee will be based in Melbourne and will work closely with Moneycatcha’s founder Ruth Hatherley on the business’s product offering.

Stryd’s current product line includes Stryd Broker, which offers lending risk assessment and loan data services and works with existing tech stacks.

He will also work closely with Travis Hurst, Stryd’s head of delivery, who joined the fintech last year from digital home loan platform Tiimely.

Lee has over a decade of experience in banking, payments, and fintech and has held senior roles at major lender National Australia Bank (NAB) and payment services provider Visa.

In his most recent position, which he left in November 2024, Lee was director of go-to-market and commercialisation at Visa.

Lee was at NAB for more than six years, starting in the bank’s graduate broker in 2014 before eventually rising to head of digital sales.

He has also worked in the UK for fintech scale-ups Freetrade and Moneybox, both utilising open banking. At both companies, he held product manager roles.

Hatherley welcomed Lee to the company: “Stryd is committed to delivering great fintech solutions for the Australian mortgage market.

“The recent rate cut means that every borrower has interest rates top of mind and lenders are sharpening their pricing. For mortgage brokers, the trail book is even more at risk to a competitor refinancing than before.

“We’re excited to have Cheok filling this newly created position at Stryd. With his strong background in open banking and fintech, and passion for product, he’s a great fit for our team.”

Lee expressed his desire to add product features for clients.

“With the help of Travis in the delivery role, I’m looking forward to getting more great features and fintech capabilities into the hands of mortgage brokers, aggregators and lenders,” he said.

Stryd is a technology partner of The Adviser’s Better Business Summit 2025, which will continue in Perth next week (6 March) before heading to Brisbane, Adelaide, and Sydney.
