MyState has turned to a former St George Bank broking executive to lead its mortgage broking business.

The group announced yesterday that it had appointed Sandi Sims as head of broker services.

Ms Sims will be responsible for leading the mortgage broker sales and service strategy of MyState Bank and The Rock Building Society.

She served as St George’s broker manager for NSW and ACT from 2012 to 2014. Before that, she worked with Westpac, mainly in mortgage distribution management roles.

MyState’s general manager of sales and distribution, Huw Bough, said the group was delighted to have recruited Ms Sims.

“Her appointment continues our commitment to the mortgage broker channel,” Mr Bough said.

“Sandi brings substantial retail and intermediary experience which will help us to build on the significant momentum we are seeing in our business.”

Ms Sims said she was excited by her new role. “The MyState group has a growing reputation among mortgage brokers and their customers,” she said.

Ms Sims is the third former Westpac figure to take a key MyState role in the past seven months, following the arrival of Mr Bough and Melos Sulicich in mid-2014.

According to the most recent APRA data, MyState Bank made $1.3 billion of owner-occupied loans in November alongside $416 million of investor loans.
