Three of the mortgage broking industry’s leading loan writers have leveraged their respective accolades to build stronger referral relationships and market their business.
Melbourne broker Mark Davis, director of The Australian Lending & Investment Centre, along with Pink Finance founder Nicole Cannon and Mortgage Choice Indooroopilly broker Benjamin Passfield all took out individual titles at The Adviser’s Better Business Awards earlier this year.
Mr Davis, who was crowned Best Residential Broker and Broker of the Year at the Victorian Better Business Awards, said he has been able to use the award as a marketing tool to create stronger referral relationships.
“We use the awards on our web page, mail outs to clients, Facebook and on every email signature we send,” Mr Davis said.
“I think it’s important that our clients know that we are on top of our game so that the right referrals continue to flow.”
Ms Cannon, who took out the New South Wales’ award for Best Customer Service Individual, said she too uses the recognition to her advantage.
“It’s a big thing with referral partners, to be able to say that we’re recognised as one of the industries’ top leaders with customer service,” she said.
“It’s [also] been able to reinforce what we’ve strived to achieve and to be actually acknowledged for that helps us be more credible – talk the talk and walk the walk.”
Meanwhile, Benjamin Passfield was named Best Newcomer at Queensland’s state awards and said it has helped his business gain traction.
“One of the girls in the office did a few Facebook posts about it and that got a bit of traction,” he said.“It got more people looking at our business online potentially.”
The Adviser’s Better Business Awards recognises the top-performing brokers in each state and acknowledges those lenders and aggregator BDMs that are best servicing brokers’ evolving needs.
The awards will be hosted as a dinner following The Adviser’s Better Business Summit – a premier event which presents insights from some of Australia’s most established business people.
The Better Business Summit took out the Business Event of the Year category at this year’s Publish Awards (previously the Publishers Australia Excellence Awards) and was named a finalist in the respected Australian Magazine Awards’ Event of the Year 2015.
The Adviser’s Better Business Summit 2016 will be held in Brisbane on 18 February, Melbourne on 25 February, Sydney on 3 Match, Adelaide on 11 March and Perth on 17 March.
